I'm sorry you did not find that to be a clear answer.
1) Shouldn't have to be -- to the comment does DElight have to be FullInterior (I suppose we could have requested the person to have expanded it to FullInteriorAndExterior but I made the assumption).
2) Do you think it is the Full Interior or the DElight that is causing the "killing the simulation time"? Seems like that is clear enough. DElight does a lot of calculations up front - but I don't believe it uses the SolarDistribution models. Without seeing the user's input file, it's a bit hard to see if he has extensive shadowing -- that might cause problems in a FullInteriorAndExterior simulation.
3) I neglected to ask if he had "reflections" -- i.e. FullInteriorAndExteriorWithReflections -- we know the Reflection calculation is slow.

That was not a very clear answer, to a good question that I am now curios about. I just had a computer made for me to handle the most rigorous of simulations and am working on getting jE+ onto Amazon EC2 so feel that simulation time is unimportant. The question however is important, if you are doing a solar heat gain and daylighting study, especially because the two are a trade off. More daylighting brings more solar gain, a good thing in the cold season and additional cooling in the hot season. The reson to use such a feature could be to see if more energy is used to offset the additional interior solar gain from the dayligting. This seems like the perfect application for the comprehensive nature of E+.. I will try an experiment and send my findings. Also if anyone has successfully ran such a simulation it would be great to have pointers...

- Hi All,
- Does anyone know if DElight daylighting has to be used with FullInterior solar distribution? I didn't see anything in the Reference documentation.
- I'm hoping not, just because it's killing my simulation time!
