[EnergyPlus_Support] Is it possible to simultaneously simulate with EnergyPlus and another software?

Hi,
I need to simulate an A/C system and would like to use EnergyPlus for the building simulation only, and another software (maybe MapleSim) for the A/C system and to have both programs simulate simultaneously while feeding I/O to each other - Is that possible?

I read the external interface manual and it seems I can only simulate the control system with a different program, not the complete A/C system, is that correct?
