Thanks Linda, and sorry to make you repeat yourself!) I guess I just did not understand. Yes directly in IDF,  is that not how it is done? I guess I should re-read, but I was provided an example by Jean (beginning of this thread) that looked like he had put in IDF sorta like I did:
