[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Partially opened windows modulated by a schedule
Thanks for the suggestions - I have tried them all - they don't seem to work.
Regards temperature or other regulation mechanism: this may work - but isn't what I want. I would want windows to be opened or closed independent from temperature, humidity or comfort considerations (assuming occupants don't know about these, which is probably a fair assumption). "Constant" seems to only know on/off:
I/O says: Note that "Constant" here means that the size of each opening is fixed while venting; the air flow through each opening can, of course, vary from timestep to timestep.
Using a continuous or fractional schedule does not change the situation (I've tried this: air change rates are exactly the same as in on/off).
I can change the opening width in the Surface sections, but then it stays that way throughout the run time.
Any other ideas?

I don't think there is a way to change the opening area with a schedule directly. The only way that I can think of is to use the temperature scheme and change the temperature limits via EMS...I looked into this a while ago, due to another problem I was having. The problem was solved without imploying the EMS so I didn't have to complete it...VERY time consuming to do this at zone level.

Yet: while this seems to work with an on/off venting availability schedule, I cannot modulate the opening fraction with it.
