Yes, elevation matters. For example, the air temperature will change about 1 deg C for every 100m in elevation change. If you are selecting the best weather station or (in our system) grid tile for your weather data input, it is best to find the one that is closest to your site that has an elevation that is close even if it is a tile adjacent to the one your site is in.

You might find that weatheranalytics can provide you with a file, if you use change the "grid" when choosing your location that is closest to the elavation, then use the IDF settings to match up any remaining gap. I have copied chuck on this who may have more info for you.
