RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] HVAC connection error

I had a quick look at your IDF and the files.  I cannot understand why you you have so many schedule:File objects in the file.  The weather file is non standard.  There is no DesignDay objects.

There is only a fan as you system equipment.   In Winter, you may want heat recovery.  In Summer, the heat recovery will make the zone warmer and not comfortable.

(Time Tmin Tmax Cloads NCloads Occ Shade Vent)  how are these used  in the simulation?
The weather file has the hourly OD temperature, and not a constant value Tmin and Tmax for the whole year, day and night.

Did you have a model or example which leads you to this  IDF?  What is the final design of your building HVAC installation?

Without the heat recovery, a unitary system will provide you with a working IDF.  Make the cooling and heating not available will simply the system  fo your diagram.  The recovery is to add a HE between the relief node and the inlet node of the OA mixer.

Run a DesignDay sizing simulation to see whether the result make sense.  No weather file is required.  Only the location information is needed.  List the outdoor dry bulb temperture and the zone mean air temperture.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] HVAC connection error

Dear colleagues!

I need to simulate a small building with two rooms and a HVAC system with heat recovery.

Please find the sketch and the IDF?s error file in the appendix.

The error seems to be related to the connection structure of the OutdoorAir:System (I think).

I placed my IDF file together with the related schedules and Weather files also in the appendix.

May You can help me to identify the error.

Thank You very much for Your help,

                Matthias

P.s.:       The IDF is e+ v6

To run the IDF You need to extract the zip file directly to You C:-drive to get C:\TH\... .

In case You choose another location on Your computer please replace

?C:\TH\?

by

?<<YourPath>>\TH\?

Using the editors replace function.

Dear Matthias:

indeed we have experience in modeling buildings and systems with E+. Regarding the electric heater beyond the ideal loads system there are also other modeling options that could prove useful. To better help you with the modeling could you please send me a more detailed description of your systems so that a proper choice can be recommended?

I think in terms of literature the "Engineering Reference" and the "Input-Output Reference" are good sources of information although they have errors and sometimes are not very concise. Also the E+ mailing list is oftentimes a useful source of information. Beyond this, papers available online are typically most helpful.

I was not of much help, but if you send me more information I will try to give you more concrete recommendations.

Best Regards,
Dimitrios

During our Abteilungs-Treffen in Kassel we (much more Georg than me) talked about the FIEMSER project.

As a part of the FIEMSER system I have to build an E+ model our TwinHouses.

Here my problem is the HVAC system.

It consists of two parts:

·         An electric heater:
This component can possibly be modelled as an ?IdealLoadsSystem?.

·         A ventilation system with heat recovery, operated on On/Off basis
(On/Off is available as a schedule).

Would You know how to model such a system?

Could You recommend some good literature on how to build E+ HVAC models?

Thanks in advance for Your help!

Best regards,

                Matthias
