Hi everyone,
I think you can help me on this one. I am asking some questions about how the object Waterheater:mixed is actually working. Let me explain to you my problem.
I am using a two tank solar heating system with a tempering valve to provide DHW. Here is how I've understood this system: my collector supply loop is a closed loop, it's always the same fluid which gives its energy to the storage tank. In this way, the storage tank gathers this energy and transfers it to the fresh cold water which is heading to the mixer then the auxilary water heater and finally my equipment, such as showers and sinks. So, for me, the storage tank is here to gather the heat from the collectors by a heat exchanger and then, when we need it, gives this energy, another a heat exchanger, to the clod water. So I've understood that it is always the same fluid in the storage tank.
But, when I go and read, in the I/O reference documentation, "the source side typically draws cold water from the tank and returns warmer water" and "the use side typically draws hot water from the tank and returns cooler water from the cold water supply mains", it doesn't make any sense to me... Maybe I've misunderstood, but whats is written is that, on the source side, cold water is taken from the storage tank, goes through solar collectors and comes back warmer. For the use side, hot water is taken from the storage tank and fresh cold water comes in.
I apologize for the length of the explanations, it might be unclear for you, and I am sorry for that.
Thank you in advance forum people
Maxime
