Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] how to create a custom weather data file for energy plus

Which file are you using to convert in step 1? The .csv file or the .def file?

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] how to create a custom weather data file for energy plus

Hi, all

I want to create a custom weather data file for energyplus simulstion. Firstly, I created a weather data file "CHN_Hong.Kong.SAR.450070_PolyUHKEPW.csv" and an associated .def file"CHN_Hong.Kong.SAR.450070_PolyUHKEPW.def".Then, i use the weather converter program to convert the .csv file to .epw file. Here were the steps i used:

1.click Select File to Convert and select the data file
2.click Override Default Type,  select the first option "Custom Data Format (requires DEF File)", and hit OK.
3. click Select Output Format (automatically shows EPW)
4. click Save File As and then hit either OK or change the file name. I generally just tell it to use the same file name, but with the EPW extension.

Then, a error w as occured. I opened the .audit file to see what was the problem. It was shown that:

Note ** Definitions taken from associated "def" file.
 Custom File Processing Details
Custom File, Number of Fields= 11
 Delimited input, Delimiter Character=","
Input Name Skip Field (t/f) Used by EnergyPlus Conversion Factor Field (from) First Record (before conversion minimum value maximum value missing value
 year F n 1.000 [3] N/A N/A -999999.0
 month F y 1.000 [0.5] 1 12 -999999.0
 day F y 1.000 [] 1 31 -999999.0

I don't know what is wrong wit it. Could anybody kindly help me to fix this problem? maybe i can send both of the two files to you for checking or testing. Thanks in advance.
