Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] ASHRAE 90.1 Opaque Door

Yes. ASHRAE 90.1 is known to ask for physical impossibility (eg. Fenestration U-values exceed 5.8 W/m2K). This is a known issue (also to the reviewers). Just use the max values in these cases.

Hi,

If I want to model an opaque door in a LEED project, does U-factors in relation to these doors include surface resistances when calculating them? If yes, some cases would not be possible. For example, climate zone 4 nonswinging door U-factor for semiheated category is 8.233, total resistance is therefore 1/8.233 = 0.1215, which is smaller than total surface resistance (0.12+0.03=0.15) (see Page 102, A9.4.1 section). It supposes the U-factor calculation does not include those surface resistances, is it right?

Thanks.

Sean
