Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] gymnasium energy simulation

Zane,
Splitting the Zone is perfectly viable. Just be aware of the limitations.
1) direct solar radiation (beam) does not pass through interior vitual partition "windows".
2) air mixing between zones must be user defined.
3) other considerations probably exist, but don't come to mind so early in the morning

For both options, it is preferable to run a CFD simulation to help "tune" the energyplus simulation. I use DesignBuilder for this.

Jean,

Thanks for you comment !

I have another question.
I said the under-seat air supply system adopted in the auditorium area,
and it just need to cool down the temperature near the seat.
So is it need to split the zone horizontal? Two zone that near the seat and one zone between them.

There exists a 3-node roomair model that you could consider to use. It's often better than splitting the zone vertically. I would however suggest doing a CFD to help align the inputs of the 3-node model.

Hi, guys.
I got a project that need to calculate cooling and heating energy of a gymnasium.
And here I have two questions to ask for comment.

1. The form of object is not a typical one.
It has inclined curtain wall with some louver on it,
and the roof was designed into streamline shape, the height of central section is lower than two side.
Is it possible to build the model like object form(by openstudio or designbuilder) or need to simplify?
If need to simplify, what kind of method do you think is the best one?

2. The under-seat air supply system adopted in the auditorium area.
But as you know, the temperature in large space is different by the height.
So, is it need to separate several zone by height and temperature or just one big zone is ok?

Looking forward your reply.
Thanks very much!!
