ÂHello Jean,
I'm a student of civil engineering and at the moment I'm working on my thesis about the thermal robustness of buildings. In my work, I'm studying the different impact of user interaction with the building-system in energy consumption for different types of buildings. To simulate the user actions under a stochastic point of view, I'm referring to Rijal's model and you can find more information about it, reading this paper: "Application of a stochastic window use model in energyplus" by Dutton et al.
You can find it at this link:

I don't know if it could be interesting for your studies but that is what i'm working on!
Have a nice day,Hi Marco,Sorry my code is not very clean. There were some object defined that were not used in the program, but are there for future implimentation. The important bit is defining deadbands so that there is an hysteresis control. Else windows will be opening and closing all the time. Are you researching in window control? Do you know of anyone else that has doen similar work? I'm trying to work on a literature review on the subject of occupant controlled window modelling. Any references are welcome.

I read the example you have pointed.
I must admit that not everything was clear to me but I tried to modify my file and now it seems to work... but not in the way I expected... I upload the idf.
In my control program the open factor of windows (only 1 wind in this case) should be set to the value of 1 or 0. I don't know why but plotting the OF vs time I observe that in result viewer the OF assumes some value different from 1 or 0. I'm speaking about the OF of the window 1.
I don't understand why of this strange behaviour... the program seems to be clear and well written but there may be another mistake hidden somewhere in the code...

The first part of the EMS is global. The second is the code program for one zone (118129). I used a macro to create this for all zones. In each zone the windows were broken down into two groups (large window & small window), but I left a third group in the EMS that does not get used.
One last point...I modelled the closing temperature sensor as "air temp" not operative, because I could not afford the unmet load hours as it was for LEED.<codice 2.idf>
