Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Wrong Calculations EnergyPlus [2 Attachments]

I'm going to assume this is what you "deleted":
BuildingSurface:Detailed,
    TETOZO, !- Name
    Ceiling, !- Surface Type
    Internal Ceiling, !- Construction Name
    zonaocupada, !- Zone Name
    Zone, !- Outside Boundary Condition
ATICO, !- Outside Boundary Condition Object

that is, you deleted a similar surface in the ATICO zone.

Read about this object -- when you use Zone as the Outside Boundary Condition -- the program automatically creates the surface in that zone to affect the interzone heat transfer.

Which is also why I directed you to look at the output (in the .eio file) of the Output:Surfaces:List,Details report. You should have seen duplicate surfaces in the zones for this object.

I cannot answer your other questions at this time except to direct you to looking at Ground Heat Transfer (in the Auxiliary Programs document) and to make sure that your floor in the raised building (if I'm understanding what you are saying) has Outdoors as the boundary condition but, likely, will not be Sun Exposed. It would be exposed to wind.

I may have time to look in detail at your files later but equally someone else on the helpdesk may as well.

Dear Linda,

first of all thank you very much for your attention, I appreciate very
much your help and tried to follow your advice.

I cancelled one interzone partition, it solved the area and volume
calculations but according to my understanding input that surface data
was necessary for the correct configuration. Could you please tell me
why the surface data cannot be included?

My research is an Academic work that tries to demonstrate that a house
built in direct contact with the ground consumes less energy for
climatization purposes than a house that was built over pilotis
(elevated from the ground).

My perplexity was to see that the Energy Plus output data indicated
the opposite for heating, but for cooling the results indicated the
necessity to use more than double of energy, wich I believe is too
much.

I built 2 models with SketchUp, the difference between them is only
the position in relate to the ground. The one named CASATERREA.IDF is
on the ground, the one named CASAPILOTIS.IDF is 2,7m above the ground.

I used the SWERA weather files of Brasilia (Brazil).

I believe there is a mistake of input but I am not capable of
understand wich mistake I am doing. Since you have a very good
knowledge with this program maybe for you it`s very simple to just
take a fast look and realize what I am doing wrong, I am sending you
the files attached and would be very pleased if you could give me your
thoughts on this issue.

The files attached are CASATERREA.IDF and CASAPILOTIS.IDF

Thank you, will be waiting for your reply

Best Regards,

Paulo Reis

Look at the Output:Surfaces:List,Details report. It's most likely
that you taggest something as an interzone partition and it got
entered twice. EnergyPlus does not make incorrect calculations on
those simple buildings -- look at the 1zoneuncontrolled example file,
for example.

If you can't figure it out, attach it here or send it to the
helpdesk.

Hello Guys!

I'm new to using EnergyPlus, and a simple simulation I checked some

Looking checked the grounds that the EnergyPlus made
some wrong calculations, for example, a thermal area

program 360 m3 . A second region with an area of 134

m2 to 234 m2 provides EnergyPlus (added to the preceding which was
100 m2 ?), But the total sum of these two areas the program provided
334 m2.
