RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] ASHRAE 90.1 Proposed Design





For the LEED certification, the real building must comply with the mandatory provisions. Consider that the responsibility for the mandatory provisions is not of the energy modeler, but of the designers.
For the envelope the mandatory provisions are in paragraph 5.4 and there is no requirement for the max U-values (in fact, U-values are in another paragraph, i.e. par. 5.5, and they are used only for the baseline model). 
For the HVAC plants the mandatory provisions are in paragraph 6.4. Not all HVAC systems are regulated (e.g. in ASHRAE 90.1-2007 the water-to-water heat pumps are not regulated, but they are in ASHRAE 90.1-2010).
If you have the LEED v. 4 BD+C Reference Guide, a Table at page 353 compares the mandatory provisions of ASHRAE 90.1-2007 with ASHRAE 90.1-2010.
