Thank you Linda for the post. Detailed view is important to understand the big picture. One of the reason why heating and cooling occurs at hourly rate might be due to automated selection of zone system. The zone system need further configurations, such as indoor temperature changes and the simulation might have selected the automated/ default values for heating / cooling for the same zone. It would good to know what is the objective here? Do u want to calculate total load in h/c? Sometimes, we do picks up the hourly average reading and realize the system is reacting in a way heating and cooling. But that is not the case or either the values might have automated mode (null!). Peak sensible cooling load for the given time period, and may be unavailable for next hour. I suggest you should use detail timestep process to evaluate the indoor requirement of heating and cooling and then run the model. Detail customization is required at timestep level.
