I probably don't have this 100% right...but E+ runs a warmup period. You can select how many days it should warmup for. So it repeats the same day x times and then the sizing simulations start. After sizing, it again runs a warmup and only then does the simulation proper start.
"Very cold" is relative. In Berlin, you can have a model overheat on the coldest TMY day by neglecting thermal breaks or infiltration or in a number of ways.
ÂHi Jean,I changed some parts of the model and now I am confused about something. I am running the simulation for 12 days (one day for each month). The simulation starts with the coldest day of the year.Âwhen I plot the Zone Air Temperature [C](Hourly) of one specific zone (let's say zone N), it starts with an unrealistically high value of 22.6 C. The heating is off, and it is a very cold day. All the other zones are 18 C. All the building zones have the heating setpoint degree of 18 C. So I was wondering how EP calculates this very first value for zone N...Âthanks a lot,IpekÂOn Tue, Feb 9, 2016 at 9:49 PM, Ipek Gursel Dino <ipekgursel@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:surprisingly, it was the lighting load that was being left out of that zone. i do not know how it is related, but fixing the lights also took care of the cooling problem. thanks for the help!On Tue, Feb 9, 2016 at 7:42 AM, Jean Marais jeannieboef@xxxxxxxxx [EnergyPlus_Support] <EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:ÂIf you modified the example file, do a side-by-side text comparison of your file and the original using a good text editor to highlight the differences.
Did you also output the actual setpoint temperatures that the program assigned the zone? You can find the matching output syntax and text in the rdd file, assuming you have specified it's creation as an output.
Did you specify the err file to output all errors? There are a few more detailed error output levels one can choose.

I took the 4ZoneWithShading_Simple_1 example from the EP ExampleFiles folder. One out of eight zones is not cooling year round. The design days seem fine. however for all the rest of the RunPeriod, cooling is not activated. So, here are the things I checked:Â* I have all the Nodes and Setpoints ect the same as the rest of the zones.Â* I checked the hourly indoor air temperature and it well drops the cooling setpoint of the zone* the error file doesnt give an error on the caluclations regarding any of the zones. So, the question is, how can I debug this problem? Any help would be appreciated...IpekÂ
