Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: AirTerminal:SingleDuct:ParallelPIU LEED ASHRAE

Francesco,
Assuming that you have not resolved this....

As you mention "The fan sits in the secondary air stream and runs only when the primary air flow is below the Fan On Flow Fraction and the fanâ??s availability schedule is on or it is activated by an availability manager."

I think you want to:
  • make the PIU available at all times,
  • set the PIU "Fan On Flow Fraction" per ASHRAE 90.1
  • make the PIU fan available at all times,
  • use a Night Cycle Manager for the main air loop fan

Hello, I know. The problem is not relative to the cooling load. The problem is relative to the fact that with "standard" input data of DesignBuilder the schedule relative to the PIU fans is ON and the PIU fans turn off only according to the field "Fan On Flow Fraction". Is it correct?

Here the definition:
The fraction of the primary air flow at which fan turns on. In the parallel PIU the fan operation is intermittent. If the primary air flow is above this fraction of the maximum, the fan is off. Otherwise the secondary fan will run according to the Availability Schedule specified in the Fan:ConstantVolume object (see Fan Name below), unless it is overridden by an availability manager (ref. AvailabilityManager:NightCycle and others).

According to ASHRAE 90.1-2007, shall I use the nightcycle also for the PIU fans?
