[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Primary Variable - Secondary Constant - Run Error
I recently tried to model a variable speed pump on the primary / supply side of a chilled water loop and got the following warning from EnergyPlus:
** Warning ** SetupCommonPipes: detected variable speed pump on supply inlet of TwoWayCommonPipe plant loop
** ~~~ ** Occurs on plant loop name = CHILLED WATER LOOP
** ~~~ ** The common pipe model does not support varying the flow rate on the primary/supply side
** ~~~ ** The primary/supply side will operate as if constant speed, and the simulation continues
Looks like EnergyPlus might be changing your primary pump to constant speed, and since you have a constant speed secondary pump, water may continuously flow through the boiler and overheat. Do you see a similar warning in your error file?
