Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] EMS query

OpenStudio will forward translate to an EnergyPlus IDF file, yes.

But FYI, EMS was also added in the OpenStudio API, so technically you don't have to leave the openstudio ecosystem. There's no way to do it in the OS Application, you must use the API for this.

The SDK documentation shows you the object you'd manipulate, eg the EMS:Sensor (https://openstudio-sdk-documentation.s3.amazonaws.com/cpp/OpenStudio-2.2.0-doc/model/html/classopenstudio_1_1model_1_1_energy_management_system_sensor.html)

The measure writing guide is helpful too: http://nrel.github.io/OpenStudio-user-documentation/reference/measure_writing_guide/

Best,
Julien

Hi
I am trying to simulate a model of dual axis solar tracking shading device (integrated with PV) to calculate the amount of electricity produced from the PV also the shading performance of the tracking shading devices. The idea is illustrated in the attached figure. I have been told that is this possible using Energy Management System (EMS) in EnergyPlus and I have used OpenStudio SketchUp Plugin to model the building and simulated the energy performance of the building using OpenStudion software, can it be exported to EnergyPlus?Or I have to remodel whole the building and set all the materials and zones?

Thank you in advance
