Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Coupling Exhaust only Zone to AHU

Hi,

Recently, we were involved in a project where DOAS exhaust is being used to heat the basement during the winter season. In order to model it, we created a separate AHU (DOAS) for the basement and Air volume/temp from the Exhaust DOAS was assigned to it by creating a Schedule:File. There were some more controls based on the zone  air temperature which we addressed through EMS. It worked quite well at the end.

Not sure if this was helpful.

thank you,

Hi guys,
Do you know of a way to couple an exhaust only zone (makeup air via zone mixing object) to a central AHU?

I have the overflow from office zones spilling over into a central atrium that is the main exhaust point to bring the air back to the central AHU. I can use zone exhaust fan objects and zone mixing objects to reduce the extract air in the office zones and shift the office air into the atrium at the extract temperature, but I don't see how I can create an airloop for the atrium with zero supply and really large exhaust. It would be required to get the even warmer air temperature of the air accounted for in the heat recovery of the central air handling unit..

Any suggestions?

Jean
