RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] COMIS Question
Joe,
Thanks for the reply. I understand that there would be no airflow between
zones or through infiltration. The basic idea is to look at the worst case
scenario for an apartment unit.
For instance, I have a 3 room apartment, with the bedroom being the only
exterior room (or zone). I'm not too worried about the interior spaces
since the majority of the heat gain will be solar, and thus coming through
the bedroom. I really only want to see what the space temperature will be
like in the bedroom with the windows open, so I can get an idea of the
temperature profile to see if it's a good idea to add air conditioning to
the apartments.
Thanks for your help!
Thanks,
Greg

Greg,
If I understand you correctly, you want to run COMIS for just one zone of a
building, and
then extract the space temperature for just that zone. You can do that in
EnergyPlus by
simply defining COMIS nodes for only that zone. However, keep in mind then
there would
then be no air flow either to the other zones through infiltration or from
zone to zone, which
was the primary reason for adding COMIS to EnergyPlus.
As to your second question, yes, you can have sweveral exterior node points
on the same
exposure or wall of a zone, like a bank of windows, etc. Ideally, you would
want to input
different pressure coefficients for each node point, because otherwise the
flow characteristics
for the multiple nodes would be identical.
