RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Latitude parameter in PV module

Dear Mike,

Thanks for your answer, but let me insist on the question a little bit.
You have run the simulation with different weather files (I suppose with
different data in Global Horizontal Radiation field) so it's clear that
the results should be different. But if you take a weather file, and
just change the latitude, you will get the same production that in the
unchanged weather file simulation.

I have tried it with annual simulation of the example "purchair.idf"
with weather files: "USA_IL_Chicago-OHare_TMY2.epw" ,
"USA_FL_Tampa_TMY2.epw" and "ESP_Barcelona_IWEC.epw". For each of this
weather files I get the same production regardless the latitude value I
write in the weather file. Of course, the PV-production in Chicago,
Tampa and Barcelona are different.

All these questions are derived of the fact that I am finding estrange
optimum slope values for the weather in Barcelona. La latitude in
Barcelona is around 42º and the maximum production is achieved with
slope array values around 30º.

Thanks for your patience.

It works OK here. I ran the same inputs with Chicaog and Phoenix
weather data and got different results. The eplus.def file is a list
of defaults and it does not reflect what is actually used for the
TRNSYS run. To see the listing from the actual TRNSYS run, see the
.trn output file in the same folder with the other EnergyPlus outputs
for your run. Search for "latitude" and the trn file will list all
of the parameters for the location that was used.

If you find that the location data is changing in the trn file but
you are still getting the same PV power output, check the inverter
capacity. If it is too small, then it will choke the power output
such that different locations might produce the same amount of power.
But the number of hours of daylight would be different, so this
might not be the issue.
