[EnergyPlus_Support] zone multiplier

Dear all,
i have noticed zone multiplier is different in example multistory idf. for
gnd floor and top floor zone multiplier data has been specified as 1 but
for mid floor that value is 8. i looked ref. and found the explanation
below. but i could'nt understand why do we need to multiply calculated
load, and especially with a big multiplier like 8 as in example idf.

"Zone Multiplier is designed as a ?multiplier? for zone loads. It takes
the calculated load for the
inputted zone and multiplies it and sends the multiplied load to the
attached system to meet
the demand. The system will have to be specified to meet the entire
multiplied zone load and
will report the amount of the load it can meet in the Zone/Sys Sensible
Heating or Cooling
Energy/Rate report variable. The default is 1."
