Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] ECOTECT VS DESIGNBUILDER

> - Which one is better for export?

Having used both Ecotect and DB as export tool for EPlus, here are
some advantages with DB:

1. you don't care about adjacencies in DB, while you have to take care
about this with Ecotect. For example if you want to have a different
zoning on a different floor, then you will have a hard time in Ecotect
to comply with adjacency requirement, while in DB it is not an issue.

2. You can do all the simulation in DB, ie if you are satisfied with
the outputs that DB gives you. Most of the time I always do an export
because then I can have whatever output I want. Furthermore, DB
doesnot support floor multiplier yet, so I always ended up running the
simulations outside DB.

The only thing that you might want to consider using Ecotect is that
if you are doing radiance simulation, and you want to use the same
Ecotect model to export both to Radiance and EPlus. However, Radiance
model has different requirements than EPlus model so we usually ended
up with doing a lot of clean ups, so in the end it is faster to build
separate model in Ecotect (for Radiance) and DB (for EPlus).

I am anticipating the upcoming SketchUp plugin for EPlus. Let's see how it is.
