Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Calling external files

If the .dat file just contains a section of the input data (for instance for
a parametric study), then the EP-Macro tool can be used to import data into
the input file.

You can have a core input file with a command like ##include
constructiondata.dat. Then when EP-Macro comes along it will just put the
contents of constructiondata.dat into the core input file. Then you would
only have to change the constructiondata file, and the core input file is
'unchanged'.

Also, E+ allows you to input schedules through external files. This helps
to alleviate the problem of huge input files if you have hourly experimental
data for instance. This may be what the thesis you mentioned is doing. If
they have experimental data, this could be some measured surface
temperatures for instance in the .dat file.

Those are the two ways of bringing input into E+ that I remember off the top
of my head.
