RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Modifying a weather file to reflect "real" weather

One model to split global solar into direct and diffuse is by Perez et. al. (1992. Dynamic Global-to-Direct Irradiance Conversion Models. ASHRAE Transactions).  There was an ASHRAE research project that produced Fortran code for that model.

Getting to Horizontal IR from global solar (without cloud cover observations) is a bit tricky – for one approach see appendix E of the report at this link http://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy05osti/34830.pdf

Dear E+ users,

You said : "I've used their data for Northeast US sites for a number of years now. With regard to insolation, they only model global horizontal insolation, however. You have to do some work to derive components you might need."

I have global radiation data too, and I would like do approximation to create an epw file. Horizontal Infrared Radiation intensity, Direct Normal Radiation and Diffuse horizontale radiation are needed.

Have you hint to help me do this job ? (link, equation...)

Thanks a lot,

Camille T.
