RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Heating of Process Air Via Solar Thermal Collectors

Unfortunately, the Desiccant component models in EnergyPlus currently only allow for Gas and Electric air heating coils.  A Coil:Heating:Water would be what you want but the desiccant models can not (yet) handle using that type of coil for regeneration.

The only thing I can suggest is to use an electric coil to get the regeneration power/energy requirements and then compare that to the available solar hot water resources.

Hi,

Anyone can help me on this?  Any thing like an water-to-air heat exchanger or something similar in EnergyPlus?  Thanks.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Heating of Process Air Via Solar Thermal Collectors

Dear All,

Is Energyplus able to model the heating of process air via solar thermal collectors to assist in the regeneration of a dessicant cooling model?  I am intending of heating the exhaust air (prior to the dessicant dehumidifier) with a solar thermal collector acting as a heat source (probably connected to a thermal storage system as well).  Is there a way to do so in EnergyPlus?

Are there any example files or information that I can refer to?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Poh Khai
