Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Modeling a part of building?

Hello,

in case you want to model only part of the building i would suggest you to find or estimate the thermal conditions of the zones that are close to these you are interested in. For example:

1) If they are expected to have the same temperature with the zones you are simulating no thermal transfer is expected and you can make the wall between them adiabatic.

2) If the rooms that are next to your zones have a constant temperature for example if you have a lab which has a constant temperature of 18 you can model this zone as well and set a simple HVAC to keep the temperature stable.

3) If the building you simulate has many floors which have almost the same conditions it is pointless to simulate the whole the building. Just do the ground, the top and a floor in the middle of the room

Hope I managed to help you

Dear all,

May I ask what are the best practices to model just a part of building?
If I am just interested in simulating some zones of a building, is there
a way not to model the whole building? I guess I need to figure out how
to assume the boundary conditions of the zones and describe them in idf.

Regards,
