Is there a minimum number of inputs that are required
for the Temperature set points for the ThermostatSetpoints? I am designing
a hospital floor and want to keep the temperature between 72F and 75F. Is
this possible or do I have to have a range?

There are several
additional comfort models that are more complex than the basic Standard 55
limits. These are accessed through the People object and have various
report variables associated with them. Examining time series results such
as Fanger PMV and operative temperature can be more informative than the summary
of hours not met. The humidity ratio used
here is the result calculated for zone air conditions. E+ modeling
addresses moist air conditions in a fairly thorough manner.

Thanks for the
help. I have tried using the

It is reporting right.
The basic issue is radiant temperatures cause discomfort and it is a real
phenomenon. Modelers and others usually focus on ensuring that drybulb air
temperature setpoints are being met (or at least not being missed more than 300
hours a year) and these Standard 55 comfort results are often ignored.
Obviously if you are trying to design for comfort then pay attention to
comfort results. Tightening up the thermostat deadband can help decrease
Standard 55 hours, but it depends on the thermal envelope. There are also ways
to model control of HVAC based directly on comfort -- see for example

Hello, I have been trying to
find out how much I should worry about "Time Not Comfortable Based on Simple ASHRAE
55-2004". I ran a simulation and came back with
different numbers of hours, so I looked at the example files and most I have
looked at come back with Hours in this category. So is this an
issue? Is it really not comfortable or is this not reporting right?
Or should I just ignore it? Please let me know,
thanks. __._,_.___ Primary EnergyPlus support is found at: http://energyplus.helpserve.com or send a message to energyplus-support@xxxxxxxx The primary EnergyPlus web site is found at: http://www.energyplus.gov The group web site is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/ Attachments are currently allowed but be mindful that not everyone has a high speed connection.
