I think the original question was asking how to model a full glass facing or curtain wall, part is window and part is spandrel.
External shading was not involved. Normally a curtain is part of a window. In this case, the curtain wall may mean the exterior wall is fully covered with glass.
I am not sure of the term either.

Just wondering the purpose of the original question.
According to the Engineering Documentation, the EnergyPlus shadow algorithm computes the sunlit areas to determine the effect of shadows on the heat transfer through the walls, when the FullExterior or FullInteriorAndExterior Solar Distribution is used.
The ShadowCalculation frequency can be shortened from the default of 20 days if better accuracy is needed.
