RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: HVAC template

Dear Mike,

Please complete the request from T.t111ir by looking at his picture.

I cannot see any building and cannot complete the design, paid or un-paid.

His request is repeated below:

"Temperature at node 1 determine that boiler will be on or off ,
When temperature node 1 greater than 80C then boiler will be off and if temperature node 1 is smaller than 80C then boiler will be on. When boiler starts working it works with maximum capacity.
Temerature at node 2 controls when pump starts to work :
If temperature at node 2 greater than 65C pump will be off and if temperature at node 2 smaller than 65C then pump will be on.
When boiler is off so radiator will be off .
and in plant of this building there is no airplant and in real building there is no thermostat setpoint  and try to fix air temperature at thermostat temperature .
I want to design this plant at first .I want to determine what capacity of boiler
needed to set room air temperature at 20C. if I use thermostat heating setpoit at 20c then energyplus use this temperature and try to fixed it during simulation ?
and after design it I want to simulate it , and I want to know what is the real air temperature and when boiler will off and on ?
I think I could simulate this characteristic by seting  availability manager.
But I don?t understand exactly different between setpoint and availability manager :
If I use setpoint  instead of availability manager ,energyplus uses this fixed setpoint and don?t on and off boiler with this setpoint?
Coul you please help me in simulation of this building?
thanks "

Node 1, Heater Off >= 80°C.  ON < 80°C.  What are the components in a boiler?  Do you turn off the heater or the water flow?

Node 2, Pump OFF >= 65°C,  ON < 65°C.  only when the pump is working.  What starts the pump?

Boiler off when the radiator is off.   So what turns off the boiler?  If the pump is off, no water will flow through the radiator.  Chicken or the egg, which one come first.

Radiator is not considered by the user as an air plant, and there is not thermostat to control it.  How do you control the room to 20°C?

Wanted to know what is the capacity of the boiler to set the room temperature at 20°C.  Can you help him, please.

I cannot design such a system.

I do not know who you are and why you are reading the group mail that you do not understand.  If you agree with what he has written make sense, joint him and apply for a paten "Dual set point, multipurpose, thermometer control system".

I'll wager that you would be more than happy to help if there were dollars involved!  I was appalled by your self-important response.  How 'bout doing us all a favor and leave this support group and get out there with all the rest of the opportunists who are simply in the energy industry it for a buck.  You can do just as much harm that way as by belittling users that need help.

I've been following the dialog of this group for a long time.  Everyone else has proven to be very patient and helpful.  Your funding comes from the government which means that your actions are subect to my judgement.  If you had expressed such sentiment to me, I would have contacted my congressman,

Sorry, I am not Linda

Your template is not an EPlus template.

EPlus template application requires a set of templates, a building, location, environment, and simulation control.

Sorry that I cannot help you.  EPlus is not that complex to use.  Complete the Exercises in the EPlus Getting Started Document (not the third party document) before asking me any more questions.

May be other users can.

Hi Dr.Linda,

I attached th picture of plant of building ,
please see it ,
Temperature at node 1  determine that boiler will be on or off ,
When temperature node 1 greater than 80C then boiler will be off and if temperature node 1 is smaller than 80C then boiler will be on. When boiler starts working it works with maximum capacity.
Temerature at node 2 controls when pump starts to work :

When boiler is off so radiator will be off .

Just to add that the expIDF is generated before simulation.

If the templates are not selected or entered correctly, the expIDF will be generated incorrectly and the simulation may not be sucessful.

You will need more than one template to work together to complete your simple system in Iran.

Yes,you are right.
You use the template which is easier to set up.You have to fill less fields.
When you run the simulation EnergyPlus "expand" your templates and
create the objects that are needed for your HVAC. You will not have to
define the inlet/outlet node because EnergyPlus will do itself.
You will have after the simulation a new file on your folder
"Example.expidf" which is your idf after being processed and expanded
by EnergyPlus. You can rename it to "Example_exp.idf" and you will
have the idf file with all your objects created. You will have all
your nodes too.
I hope it helps you,
Ignacio Gomis
