RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: HVAC Terminal Unit: VariableRefrigerantFlow

Dear Santiago,

I think that if you use multiple terminal units, each of which has a thermostat, you really have multiple zones.  Each zone can have either a heating or cooling demand, depending on its orientation and other factors.  Since the VRF system in E+ currently allows “only heating” or “only cooling” at one time, it may have been the case that one zone needed heating while the other zones needed cooling.  When you combined the terminal units, the discrepancy was gone because the zone no longer had a conflict between heating and cooling demand.

This might be an issue which the Help desk will want to review, since it seems that E+ should deal with it more gracefully (If I have understood it properly).

Regardless, I am glad that you solved the problem!

I have solved the problem by reducing the number of terminal units. Before I had 4 TU in one single zone, and this caused many warnings. Now I have placed only 1 TU with the equivalent capacity o the 4 units, and the warnings are gone. But it would
