RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] blower door test result

I will assume that this is for a small house structure.  LBL has done a fair amount of research to correlate CFM50 test data to actual infiltration.  The US Energy Star program is one source of data for this conversion.

note that this gives an average annual rate that can be seasonally dependent on wind and temperature.

I prefer to have infiltration test data that includes leakage rate formula coefficients for the test.  It is then possible to use more advanced EnergyPlus features as outlined in this

Hi,

you have to be very careful when using blower door test results as the infiltration rate in simulation models.

As you said, the test is done with 50Pa pressurized building. That will never be the case during the operation of a building.

You could probably use the European Standard DIN-EN 832 which basically suggests to multiply the n50 value by 0.07 to get the infiltration value for the non-preassurized building.

Betreff: [EnergyPlus_Support] blower door test result

Hi all,
Has anyone ever used the whole house blower door test result for energy plus inputs?

I have 3835CFM@50Pa which is 20.5ACH@50Pa, but the depressurized test was done for entire house, not for each zones.

I'm not sure if I can assume each zone has 20.5ACH as leakage and input this value into 'Air Changes per Hour' parameter of 'ZoneInfiltration:DesignFlowRate ', and leave rest of that as blank.

I know this will ignore many realistic conditions such as wind, height of the zone or schedule of the activities and so on, but if you can recommend me simple usage of the testing result from the actual site to simulate the energy model in energy plus, then that will be very helpful.

thank you
