We did have some discussion about this, but I could not find the email or Help Desk ticket. To be completely frank, I didn’t look too hard because I recall that it was still fairly vague to me and I put it “on the shelf” for future investigation and trials.
The new text that shows up in IDF Editor (which I was unaware of prior to your message) is still pretty obtuse to me.
I’d love to have a complete list of “native” variables, an explanation of how to create custom variables, and some more details about how this all works.
Today’s experiment actually ran, despite my ignorance, and appears to have reasonable results. More checking is needed though, and I hate to throw darts at the wall without really understanding what I’m doing.
On the flip side of that comment, example files are a great way to demonstrate how to do something within E+. I am very grateful there are so many to look at; I’d be lost on a variety of problems without a working example. They enable understanding most of the time and make “throwing darts” a lot more effective.
