Hi Gert, I think you miss-understand the directionality. For most all of the surface outputs, positive values mean the flow of energy is directed toward the *face* of the surface. If your ceiling is cooling the zone then the conduction will be directed away from the face and into the surface’s construction assembly adjacent to the face. The “Gain” version of the output variable will be zero but the “Loss” version will be positive. For thermal radiation, see variables like “Surface Inside Face Net Surface Thermal Radiation Heat Gain Rate”. You may have turn on display advanced output variables to see all of the options. From: EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of geert.bellens@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I'm modelling a chilled ceiling. I have the "Surface Inside Face Conduction Heat transfer Rate " Which gives me an idea of the heat transfer between the zone and the ceiling. If I want to look to the radiant and the convective part, I'm a bit confused about which output to look at. "Surface Inside Face Convection Heat Gain Rate" gives me the convective part, which is about 40 % of the total Heat Transfer Rate. "Surface Inside Face Conduction Heat Gain Rate" is however zero.... which cannot be the case. Am I looking at the wrong output ?
