I now understand how solar incident is calculated in EnergyPlus according to your explanation.
was just looking for a "magnitude" output variable rather than "intensity".
Guess I need to do a bit more manual work to get the "amount" of solar radiation incident by multiplying "intensity" with the area of a given base surface...
