Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] How to deal with a wall which has different structures in different parts
Dear all,
Thank you very much for your reply!
But I still have some questions need your help.
In my simulation, The wall structure is:
up and down the window, it has a concrete layer and a insulation layer. but on the left and right of the window, it has a concrete layer only. The two concrete layers have the same thickness. I did not find the same wall in the CompositeWallConstructions.idf
Because the one-dimensional analysis in the wall which has complex structure perhaps generate serious errors. How should I do?
Could I find the equivalent wall to the real wall?
Yours,
Shirong Meng

apart from linda's suggestions
It can also be done in text editor. if you go into text editor mode or your input file and understand how walls are specified, then you could creat a similar wall object with the required dimensions and materials.
eg: replicate the object below from your idf with differnt names and the required XYZ coordinates in text editor and the same wall can have different materials then.
Surface:HeatTransfer,
Zn001:Wall007, !- User Supplied Surface Name
Wall, !- Surface Type
METALSIDINGWALL, !- Construction Name of the Surface
ZONE 1, !- InsideFaceEnvironment
ExteriorEnvironment, !- OutsideFaceEnvironment
, !- OutsideFaceEnvironment Object
SunExposed, !- Sun Exposure
WindExposed, !- Wind Exposure
0.5000000 , !- View Factor to Ground
4 , !- Number of Surface Vertex Groups -- Number of (X,Y,Z) groups in this surface
4.210000 , !- Vertex 1 X-coordinate {m}
71.14000 , !- Vertex 1 Y-coordinate {m}
5.500000 , !- Vertex 1 Z-coordinate {m}
4.210000 , !- Vertex 2 X-coordinate {m}
71.14000 , !- Vertex 2 Y-coordinate {m}
3.0000000E+00 , !- Vertex 2 Z-coordinate {m}
4.210001 , !- Vertex 3 X-coordinate {m}
51.14000 , !- Vertex 3 Y-coordinate {m}

5.500000 ; !- Vertex 4 Z-coordinate {m}

Dear all,
I want to define a wall which has different structures in different parts. It is the exterior wall of a room.
But in E+, the surface has uniform temperature, so how to define the surfaces and structures? Could I divide the wall into a few parts?
looking forward to your reply!
