Thank you James,
I agree with you. In fact i just took a bad example, but I meant : how
can I run parametric simulations for different constructions. I want to
know if EP can grab the constructions as a whole or can EP only simulate
particular values (U or thicknesses) ?

materials
Dear Shady,
Insulation that is contained within a wall generally has low mass, at
least low enough not to significantly affect the mass-influenced time lag
through the wall system. For that reason, I doubt that you will see
a difference between modeling specific materials and just specifying
different conductance values.
I think you could easily run any conductance value using the parametric
processor, just as you already did for thickness.

materials
Thank you all,
I followed your advise and finally succeed to run parametric runs with
various values.
What I did was for a variety if insulation thicknesses (2,5,7,10,12
cm).
Now, I want to try something else.
How can I run a parametric simulations of different insulation
types/materials (rubber, polystrene, rockwool)
please advise,
Shady

Subject: Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Run a series of simulations
A recent addition to EnergyPlus utiltiies -- the Parameteric
preprocessor
is one way to accomplish this.
ParametricInsulation-5ZoneAirCooled.idf is in the included
ExampleFiles.
Objects to look for are:
Parametric:SetValueForRun
Parametric:RunControl
Parametric:Logic
the Parametric Preprocessor is documented in the Auxiliary Programs
document.
There are at least two other example files that use these.
Which EnergyPlus Example File has...
Two links from the installation:
Example Files Summary Sheet - highlights each example file
Example Files Link to Objects - shows the first three example files
(if
that many exist) that have a particular object.
You can also accomplish parametric runs with the EPMacro preprocessor.
EP-Launch can be used in this method to run a user set number of
runs.
